Regrettably, the Race Committee of the Jingle Bells 5k, in consultation with the Toms River Police, cancelled the December 8, 2013 race events due to the extreme winter weather conditions that hit the Toms River area hard between 12 noon and 3:30pm. This decision was made for the safety of the runners and those traveling to the race.
As soon as this decision was made, this information was posted to several websites, local news stations and Facebook to get this information out as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, we were not set up to individually or mass contact over 450 pre-registered runners. We apologize to those who were inconvenienced because they did not hear or learn about the cancellation before traveling to the race site.
Rescheduling this race is not feasible for this year. Although the race has been cancelled, many race expenses have still been incurred and must be paid.
As you know, the Rotary Club of Toms River, a non-profit civic organization, sponsors this race. Rotarians, Race Committee members and many volunteers donate many hours of their own time to make this race happen. 100% of the proceeds of the event are distributed as scholarships or donations to other non-profit organizations. This race is not a “for profit” venture.
Refunds will not be processed in accordance with the non-refund policy of this race.
T-SHIRT PICK UP
2013 Pre-Registered Runners may pick up their tee shirts on Thursday, Dec 19 between 5pm and 7pm at Capone’s, Washington St., Downtown Toms River. We will be in Jimmy C’s (right side) as you enter the restaurant.
2014 CREDIT OPTION
We are also offering a credit option of $5.00 towards the 2014 Jingle Bells Run event for 2013 pre-registered runners.
* If you choose this option, you cannot apply on-line in 2014, but will have to utilize the mail in registration application only.
In 2014 you will fill out your new application and check the box with the “$5.00- 2013 credit” to be applied and send it to the address on the application.
Although we are disappointed with this cancellation, we look forward to next year’s race in 2014. We ask you for your continued support and understanding of the difficult decisions that have been made in response to the unfortunate weather conditions on race day. Again, please accept our sincere apologizes to all our race supporters.
